Physician Office Specimen Requirements

Specimen:  Sampling of perianal region

Collection Instructions:  1. Specimens from more than 1 day may be required.

2. Obtain specimen first thing in morning before bath or bowel movement.

3. Hold paddle by cap and remove it from tube.

4. Separate buttocks and press tacky (sticky) surface to perianal area.

5. Replace paddle in tube.

Note:  Label container with patient’s full name and 1 additional unique patient identifier such as date of birth, medical record number, emergency ID number, date and time of collection, collector’s initials, and type of specimen.
