Specimen Requirements

Specimen:  CSF in a sterile tube.  It is extremely important that the specimen be obtained aseptically and the collectors wear face masks to prevent contamination. Transport at room temperature as soon as possible after collection. Not intended from indwelling CNS medical devices.  Shunt fluid is not approved for testing and will not be accepted for this test.

Minimum Volume:  1.0 ml

Note:  Label tube with patient's full name and 1 additional unique patient identifier such as date of birth, medical record number, emergency ID number, date and time of collection, collector's initials, and type of specimen.
