Specimen Requirements

Testing should be set up within 8 hours of draw time if blood is left at room temperature.

Testing should be set up within 12 hours of draw time if blood is kept at 4^oC.

Container/Tube:  3.0-mL lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Specimen:  Full tube

Collection Instructions:  Specimen may be drawn in same tube as complete blood count or hemoglobin and hematocrit.

Note: Label tube with patient’s full name and 1 additional unique patient identifier such as date of birth, medical record number, emergency ID number, date and time of draw, collector’s initials, and type of specimen.
